DONE DEAL: Top Talented 5-Star Super Talented Star Officially Commits To Miami Hurricanes Over Georgia, And Alabama

Miami Hurricanes Secure TCU Center  via Transfer Portal

The Miami Hurricanes have solidified their center position for the 2025 season by signing James Brockermeyer from the transfer portal. This marks the third consecutive year Miami has relied on the portal to find its starting center under head coach Mario Cristobal.

Brockermeyer, a former four-star recruit, is rated as a three-star transfer by 247 Sports. In comparison, the Hurricanes’ previous centers through the portal included 2023’s Matt Lee, a four-star transfer from UCF, and 2024’s Zach Carpenter, a three-star transfer from Indiana (via Michigan).

Before joining TCU, Brockermeyer served as a backup center at Alabama under Nick Saban. At 6-foot-3 and 295 pounds, he brings sufficient size to compete against ACC defensive tackles. In 2024, he started 12 games for TCU and enters Miami with one year of eligibility remaining.

The Hurricanes view Brockermeyer as a short-term solution while highly touted four-star recruit Seuseu Alofaituli from Bishop Gorman adjusts to the demands of Power Five football.

Brockermeyer has benefited from guidance under notable offensive line coaches, including Eric Wolford at Alabama and A.J. Ricker at TCU. At Miami, he will now work under offensive line coach Alex Mirabal.

With experience in diverse offensive schemes—Bill O’Brien’s pro-style approach at Alabama and Sonny Dykes’ Air Raid system at TCU—Brockermeyer appears better suited for the latter. His versatility and pedigree make him a valuable addition to Miami’s offensive line for the upcoming season.
