**Iowa State Transfer Commits to Texas A&M**
Texas A&M continues to bolster its defensive line depth through the transfer portal. On Thursday night, the Aggies secured a commitment from Iowa State transfer edge rusher Tyler Onyedim following his recent visit to College Station.
Onyedim brings experience and production to the Aggies’ roster. Over the past two seasons with the Cyclones, he started 21 games, recording 75 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, and 2 sacks. His strong performance earned him All-Big 12 honorable mention recognition in 2023. Ranked as the No. 26 defensive lineman and No. 294 overall player in the transfer portal by 247Sports, Onyedim has one year of eligibility remaining.
The Aggies’ defensive end position is undergoing significant changes ahead of the 2025 season. With Nic Scourton and Shemar Stewart declaring for the NFL Draft and Enai White, Malik Scylla, and Josh Celiscar entering the transfer portal, Texas A&M returns only a few DEs from last season. Cashius Howell and Rylan Kennedy are projected starters, while Solomon Williams, Kendall Jackson, and incoming freshman Marco Jones add limited depth.
To address these gaps, Texas A&M has been active in the portal. In addition to Onyedim, the Aggies have added Florida transfer TJ Searcy, Georgia’s Sam M’Pemba, and Colorado’s Dayon Hayes. These acquisitions provide veteran experience and competition, with the potential for one or more players to contribute significantly to the rotation this fall.
Texas A&M’s efforts in the transfer market have been impressive, with 11 portal commitments so far. Their transfer class currently ranks No. 5 in the nation, reflecting the program’s success in reloading talent and maintaining competitiveness for the upcoming season.
