has signed a three-year, $75 million contract with the Mets, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN.
Manaea showcased significant improvement in his first season with the Mets last year, rebounding from a challenging stretch with the Padres and Giants during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. While he posted a 4.73 ERA and 1.27 WHIP across 67 appearances (38 starts) over those two years, he turned things around in 2024. With the Mets, Manaea recorded a 3.47 ERA and 1.08 WHIP, along with an impressive 184:63 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He also pitched a career-high 181.2 innings in 32 regular-season starts, solidifying his role as a reliable arm in the rotation.
Returning to the Mets for the next three seasons, Manaea will be part of a strengthened pitching staff that has already welcomed Frankie Montas and Clay Holmes during the offseason. As a front-line starter, he is expected to play a key role for a team coming off a deep postseason run, having reached the National League Championship Series (NLCS) in 2024.
The Mets enter the 2025 season with high expectations, bolstered by their recent moves, including the record-breaking signing of Juan Soto in December. With Manaea anchoring the rotation and new additions complementing the roster, the team aims to contend for a championship in the upcoming season.
