Arizona Signs Former Kansas State Wide ReceiverÂ
Arizona has bolstered its offense by officially signing former Kansas State wide receiver Tre Spivey. The Wildcats announced the move on Thursday, highlighting Spivey’s potential impact on their revamped roster.
Spivey, who redshirted his freshman year, made notable contributions this past season with 14 receptions for 160 yards and a touchdown. His standout performance came against Cincinnati, where he tallied five catches for 63 yards and a score.
The 6-foot-4, 185-pound receiver, the son of former MLB player Junior Spivey, has been praised for his athleticism and versatility. Blair Angelo, a national recruiting analyst for 247Sports, described Spivey as a “long, wiry pass-catcher” with a knack for key receptions over the middle. Angelo highlighted Spivey’s strong performances at high school events, where he used his length and fluid route-running to challenge defenders, earning recognition at the Under Armour Next Camp Series in Southern California.
Arizona’s offense is undergoing significant changes, with the wide receiver group receiving particular attention. In addition to Spivey, the Wildcats have added Luke Wysong from New Mexico and Kris Hutson from Washington State.
Head coach Brent Brennan expressed confidence in the team’s ability to navigate the transfer portal effectively. “I believe in the support we’re getting from our athletics director and President,” Brennan said. “I’m optimistic about the recruiting class we’re assembling and the moves we’re making in the portal.”
The transfer portal provides players with opportunities to switch programs. It features two primary windows: one after the regular season (Dec. 9–28) and one following spring practice. Graduate transfers can enter at any time, and players on teams with coaching changes or postseason participation receive additional transfer opportunities.
Spivey’s signing reflects Arizona’s commitment to retooling its offense and competing in the upcoming season.
