“I Will Return To Virginia Tech Football” Former NCAA Most Valued Coach Confirm He Will Join Hokies Football Team In 2025

Virginia Tech Brings Back Coaching Legend Bud Foster as Adviser

Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry has announced that legendary defensive coach Bud Foster will return to the Hokies’ football program in an advisory role. This decision, revealed ahead of the team’s Duke’s Mayo Bowl matchup against Minnesota, has energized fans eager to see the celebrated coach contribute to the program once again.

Foster’s Return to the Hokies

Following the firing of defensive coordinator Chris Marve last month, interim coordinator Shawn Quinn has taken on bowl game preparations, with Foster assisting behind the scenes. Pry confirmed that Foster will have a more consistent role moving forward, although not as a full-time defensive coordinator.

“In some way, shape, or form, Bud’s going to be part of our defense,” Pry said. “We’ll have a plan for him moving forward—X number of days per week—figuring out where he can help us the most.”

While specifics of Foster’s role remain undefined, his presence alone is expected to bring valuable insight and stability to the defensive side of the ball.

Staff Changes Underway

In addition to Foster’s return, Pry has made other key coaching staff moves. West Virginia offensive line coach Matt Moore has been hired to replace Ron Crook, a move that has already paid dividends with two former West Virginia linemen transferring to Virginia Tech through the portal.

As for filling the vacant defensive coordinator position, Pry indicated that the process is ongoing but delayed due to bowl season commitments. He expressed confidence that a decision will be reached soon.

Looking Ahead to 2025

With the 2025 season looming as a pivotal year for Pry, Foster’s involvement is a strategic move. While Foster won’t be the defensive coordinator, his influence could extend to the hiring process and overall defensive strategy. His return is a no-brainer decision for a program seeking to reignite its winning tradition.

Hokies fans now await further updates as the team prepares for its next chapter under Pry’s leadership and Foster’s legendary guidance.
