Jim Montgomery, the head coach of the Boston Bruins, frequently switches around the forward lines for the Black and Gold.
When the Bruins took to the ice on Monday at Warrior Ice Arena, everything was the same. This is the most recent adjustment made by Boston’s bench boss:
David Pastrnak, Pavel Zacha, and Morgan Geekie
Justin Brazeau, Elias Lindholm, and Brad Marchand
Tyler Johnson, Charlie Coyle, and Trent Frederic
Cole Koepke, Mark Kastelic, and Johnny Beecher
Poitras, Matt
Montgomery kept two duos intact, Zacha and Pastrnak and Marchand and Lindholm, and reassembled the Bruins’ most productive line of Beecher, Kastelic, and Koepke. Poitras was the odd man out, skating as the 13th forward in a fairly unexpected decision.
According to team-provided audio, Montgomery informed reporters that Poitras wasn’t skating on a line because “other guys were getting an opportunity.”

The 20-year-old forward would typically be a healthy scratch for the Bruins’ Tuesday game against the St. Louis Blues, but a few hours later, general manager Don Sweeney revealed that Poitras had been demoted to the team’s AHL affiliate in Providence.
Over the past five games, Poitras has only had four shots on goal and little under 12 minutes of ice time on average.

Regarding what he wants from Poitras, Montgomery stated, “More of an impact in the game.” “Creating more plays.” Being aware of our structure
In 14 games, the 2022 second-round selection has committed 11 turnovers, including one that resulted in a 3-on-1 loss for Ottawa on Saturday in OT. Last week, Montgomery gave a candid evaluation of Poitras, praising the young forward’s inventiveness and fierce competitiveness. However, he pointed out that Poitras needs to learn from the “bad situations” he puts himself in.

It makes sense to send Poitras to Providence for both his future with the company and the advancement of his game.
Poitras will probably get more ice time and get to skate in all situations, including the power play and penalty kill, if he participates in AHL games.
