With the exception of some outstanding play from standout running back Alvin Kamara, the New Orleans Saints’ 2024 season has entirely collapsed.
Additionally, he is getting closer to breaking a record held by his old running back teammate, Mark Ingram, as he keeps up his strong play for his longstanding franchise.
Ingram is the team’s top rusher, having accumulated 6,500 running yards throughout his nine-and-a-half seasons with the Saints. But in Week 10, it appears that he will cede that title to Kamara.
Assuming nothing disastrous occurs against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Kamara will surpass Ingram’s record of 6,489 running yards with the Saints.
Ingram said he’s “incredibly proud” of the effort his former colleague has done when questioned about Kamara getting closer to his record. New Orleans has lost seven straight games after winning their first two in a commanding manner.
Head coach Dennis Allen was sacked as a consequence of the team’s Week 9 loss to the Carolina Panthers. Kamara has, however, continued to be tremendously productive for the Saints despite everything.
In addition to playing in all nine games, Kamara has essentially been the lone player responsible for the Saints’ offensive success. In addition to hauling in 46 catches for 367 yards and another touchdown, he has 660 running yards and six touchdowns on 150 carries.
That’s quite amazing given the lack of support he’s received, and it will be good to see him win a significant franchise award in Week 10 with the only NFL team he has played for. All eyes will be on Kamara to see if he can surpass Ingram’s record when the Saints play the Falcons on Sunday at 1 PM EST.
