Former Green Bay Packers players are now meeting up with the Jacksonville Jaguars. When the Jaguars signed former Green Bay safety Darnell Savage to a three-year, $21.75 million contract, they made a big statement in free agency.
The veteran defensive back was joined in Jacksonville a few weeks later by former Packers tight end Josiah Deguara. Deguara agreed to a $1.29 million, one-year contract.
In Week 10, we see another former Packer traveling to the Sunshine State. Long snapper Peter Bowden was added to the practice squad, the Jaguars announced Tuesday. Dennis Daley, an offensive lineman, was also added to Jacksonville’s taxi squad.
Bowden finished his three-year college career at the University of Wisconsin and spent the preseason with Green Bay. After the 2024 NFL Draft, the former star for the Badgers inked a contract as an undrafted free agent.
In order to challenge Matt Orzech for the starting long snapper position, Green Bay brought in the finalist for the Patrick Mannelly Award. In order to create place for experienced quarterback Jacob Eason, the Packers first released Bowden on July 23.
A week later, Green Bay re-signed the rookie long snapper, but he would lose against Orzech and be cut on August 14.
For the rest of the 2024 season, the former five-star recruit will attempt to remain on the Jags’ practice squad. Bowden may be able to secure a futures or reserve deal if he can accomplish this, positioning him to contend for a starting position in minicamp/training camp the following season.
