Before the Tigers’ game against Alabama on Saturday, LSU coach Brian Kelly provided an update on the health of starting wide out CJ Daniels.
When LSU faced Texas A&M nearly two weeks ago, Daniels was a game-time decision; although playing, he was unable to complete the game. Daniels’ left leg was in a walking boot for the second half.
“Unfortunately, he couldn’t answer the bell in the second half, but he’s further along,” Kelly stated on Monday. He’s a lot better now than he was a few weeks ago, in my opinion. It is anticipated that he will be able to assist us.
Garrett Dellinger, a left guard for the Tigers, will not play versus Alabama due to a severe ankle injury that required TightRope surgery.

Daniels transferred from Liberty and is now LSU’s fourth-leading receiver with 29 receptions for 342 yards this season. But for the previous month, he has had to cope with a number of ailments.
Kelly stated at the time that Daniels missed the Tigers’ victory over Ole Miss on October 12 due to a recurrence of an old knee issue. Before LSU’s game against Texas A&M, Daniels seemed to have a lower leg injury, but he was able to play again a week later against Arkansas.
Daniels’ left ankle was tightly wrapped during a warmup workout before to start. He had to exit the game after making two catches for 17 yards.
Daniels got an additional week to attempt to recuperate before the Tigers play Alabama since LSU had an open date after their game against Texas A&M.
“CJ is much better than he was, obviously, going into the A&M game,” Kelly stated. “He did an excellent job preparing himself, in my opinion. I felt that our physicians and athletic training team did a fantastic job preparing him for a game.
