Kristy Wallace, a guard who helped guide the Australian women’s national basketball team to a bronze medal, was the only member of the Indiana Fever to represent their nation at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Notably, Team USA did not have talented point guard Caitlin Clark.
Considering how many spectators Clark would have added to the women’s squad, not to mention the skill level she would have contributed on the court, this was a contentious choice. After Clark made the All-WNBA first team, her rejection seemed even more puzzling.
But Team USA announced Monday that 13 players will participate in the 3-on-3 women’s national team developmental camp, which will be held in Phoenix, Arizona, from November 8–10. One of the athletes scheduled to participate in the camp is Indiana’s backup guard, Grace Berger.
Berger, a former standout for the Indiana Hoosiers, has previously played for Team USA. Together with fellow Fever player Aliyah Boston, Berger was a member of the Team USA squad that won the FIBA AmeriCup in Puerto Rico in 2021. During the 2024 WNBA season, Berger saw very little action.
She only made 11 appearances, all of them as a substitute. The 25-year-old averaged 2.8 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 0.6 assists in 9.3 minutes per game. Berger was recognized to the first team All-Big Ten four times during her lengthy stay with the Hoosiers, which spanned from 2018 to 2023, before the Fever picked her with the seventh overall choice in the 2023 WNBA draft.
