With all four of the aforementioned clubs in the NFC North, the NFC North is the tightest division in football as we approach the quarter-point point of the season.500.
In Week 5, the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, and Chicago Bears all achieved significant wins, while the Detroit Lions were on the bye. As they head into their bye week, the Vikings are still unbeaten, while the other three teams hope to gain ground.
Each of these clubs’ quarterbacks is performing admirably in their own unique way. Let’s see how these quarterbacks compare to one another following five weeks of competition.
4. Bears’ Caleb Williams
Over the weekend, Caleb Williams had the best week of his career as a professional football player, leading the Bears to a decisive 36-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers. With 304 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions, Williams completed 20 of 29 passes. He also gained 34 yards on five carries.
Williams is beginning to understand the NFL. Even though it happened against the lowly Panthers, the Bears are 3-2 under his leadership. With all the weapons at his disposal, the Bears might be a formidable club if he can ride this wave further. Williams and Chicago will play the Jacksonville Jaguars in London on the other side of the Atlantic.
3. Lions’ Jared Goff
After playing a great game against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 4, Jared Goff drops a few spots this week since he and the Lions were off. Goff’s performance thus far this season has been mediocre, with five touchdowns and four interceptions, placing him in the middle of the pack among NFL quarterbacks.
Following their week off, Goff and the Lions will face one of their most difficult opponents early in the season when they visit Dallas for a Sunday afternoon matchup against the Cowboys.
2. Jordan Love of the Packers
Last week, Jordan Love and the Packers went to the west and defeated the Los Angeles Rams 24–19. With 224 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, Love completed 15 of 26 passes. He had three carries for ten yards and was sacked twice for a total of 27 yards.
Though attempting to avoid a sack in the end zone for a safety, Love had an absurd pick-six. In addition, he hit Jayden Reed with one of the best passes of the NFL season, a deep shot that set up the Packers’ opening touchdown. Love showed why the Packers paid him to be their starting quarterback this summer when he was at his best, particularly in the second half.
Early on, Love still had some rust as he learned how to handle the Rams’ pass rush, which frequently blitzed him.
Sam Darnold of the Vikings
The Vikings defeated Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets 23–17 in London, winning once more. Sam Darnold was sacked four times for 32 yards and finished 14 of 31 passes for 179 yards and one interception.
Being restricted to fewer than 200 yards and failing to toss a touchdown made Darnold’s performance likely his worst of the season. Still, it was enough for another victory, and going into their bye week, the Vikings are unbeaten. A player would normally drop in the standings after a game like this, but going unbeaten adds some bonus points.
