LATEST Bruins NEWS: Just In Boston Bruins Just Officially Announced The Departure Of Two Top Sensational Star Players Due To……

The Bruins and restricted free agent goalie Jeremy Swayman have not yet reached a contract extension, but the 25-year-old stated he wants to stay in Boston for the long run. The season opening is less than a week away.

During an episode of the NHL’s new Amazon Prime Video docuseries, “FACEOFF: Inside the NHL,” Swayman expressed his desire for the NHL to continue.

“I might not be wearing a Bruins jersey after this. I’m sure I’ll do every effort to remain a Bruin for a very long time. This was something I could never have imagined as a child growing up in Alaska. I hope it never ends. I’m incredibly appreciative that tomorrow will bring another chance for improvement and that the sun will rise.”

Even still, with five days to go until the Bruins play the Florida Panthers in their season opening, Swayman, 25, is not in camp.

Swayman was anticipated to be Boston’s No. 1 goalkeeper following the June transaction that sent Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators. Now that Swayman is a holdout, it looks that veteran Joonas Korpisalo is the front-runner for the position, with rookie Brandon Bussi serving as his backup.

Regarding the state of discussions, the team and Lewis Gross, Swayman’s agent, have different opinions.

In remarks to reporters on Monday, Bruins president Cam Neely hinted that the goalkeeper had received a $64 million contract offer. Later, Gross refuted that statistic in a statement that she put on Instagram.

Last season, Swayman was signed to a one-year, $3.475 million deal by an impartial arbiter. As far as the NHL is concerned, he is the sole unsigned RFA.

In portions of four seasons with Boston, Swayman has a 79-33-15 record, a.919 save percentage, and a 2.34 goals-against average. Together, he and Ullmark helped Boston score the fewest goals in the NHL in 2022–2023 and went on to share the William M. Jennings Trophy.

Last season, he had a record of 6-6 with a 2.15 GAA and a.933 save percentage in 12 playoff games.
