The Bruins’ penultimate preseason game against the Los Angeles Kings at Videotron Centre in Quebec City ended in a 4-1 loss as they were unable to generate any attacking momentum.
The Black and Gold managed just 14 shots throughout the course of the game and gave up even-strength, power-play, and shorthanded goals in the defeat. The Kings had limited the Bruins to just two shots in the first 20 minutes of play.
Based on footage provided by the club, Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery told reporters after the game, “I just thought that their tracking and their (defensive) gaps were really good.” “And, we refused to put pucks in behind them and go in and check on the forecheck.”
The Bruins’ occasional lack of interest during the game may have been caused by the fact that opening night is only five days away.

Montgomery continued, “I do believe that guys are beginning to look forward to Tuesday night.” “There were a few final sessions beforehand, and this was the final exhibition game for many guys. For veterans, timing is more important than anything else, and for guys vying for a spot on the squad, impressing is more crucial.”
The Bruins struggled to start games on time during the previous season, and it seemed like that pattern might return in this encounter.

“I believed that we were asleep in the first. Our legs weren’t moving,” Montgomery remarked. “To start, it wasn’t a very good game for us in that regard because the forwards aren’t skating away from the defensemen to create any type of speed and the defensemen aren’t moving their feet.
“Our focus is on our growth during camp in order to prepare for Game 1 rather than this particular game. Generally, feel okay. I dislike this evening. The game in New York didn’t appeal to me either.”
