Hugh Freeze has guided the Auburn football team to an 8-9 record after the team lost its home game against the Arkansas Razorbacks, who are rated #1. More significantly, the Auburn Tigers have finished 25-28 since 2020 and have gone to three bowl games but have lost each one.
After the defeat, Auburn is in risk of having a fourth consecutive losing season—something the SEC heavyweight hasn’t accomplished since the late 1940s. One team captain is prepared for his teammates to work harder at practice as the Tigers prepare to take on the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday.
Auburn football star defender Eugene Asante highlighted the need for the squad to “up the ante” in terms of preparation and practice intensity during a Q&A with the media after last weekend’s conference loss.
And I’ll keep trying to tell guys that if they think they’re doing enough, they’re not.
To be completely honest, college football players are now paid zero dollars for their efforts. This is not a joke; this is a job. That’s not how I interpret it. I make an effort to let the team know that this is a big event. I’m just trying to make sure they realize how serious this is. Furthermore, we treat it like a job and attempt to carry it out rather than just doing it for enjoyment.
