The Philadelphia Eagles’ horrific collapse on Monday Night Football was topped off with even more alarming news for its supporters throughout the show. Star wide receiver AJ Brown is expected to miss a few weeks with a hamstring issue, according to ESPN. This was certainly considered as a big setback, given how the Eagles offense struggled at times without the No. 1 option in Jalen Hurts.
Following the game, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni declined to comment on these rumors. As per Zach Berman of PHLY, Sirianni is presently unaware of Brown’s whereabouts for the next few weeks.
NFL News: Nick Sirianni Disputes Earlier Reports About AJ Brown’s Injuries
This is an unexpected and perplexing development. Lisa Salters of ESPN had clearly referenced AJ Brown in her reporting. It’s alarming that a reporter learned about a star player’s injury before the Eagles head coach did.
It may have been considered gamesmanship if Sirianni had made this statement prior to a match. It may be interpreted as a tactic to make the opposition uncomfortable. Saying it right after a game makes it more difficult to comprehend.
Either Sirianni doesn’t have a solid understanding of what is going on with his club, or the reporting is false. Let’s hope for the benefit of Eagles supporters that it’s the former.
Brown missed his first regular-season game as an Eagle, against the Falcons. He had previously missed last season’s Buccaneers Wild Card game. Without Brown, Philadelphia is at 0-2 in games.
That does not seem good for the Eagles’ chances when they play the hot New Orleans Saints in Week 3. On FanDuel Sportsbook, they are currently 1.5-point underdogs.
