Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever play their final game of the 2024 WNBA regular season on Thursday, September 19, at the nation’s capital, against the Washington Mystics. However, Indiana has already secured their postseason seed and place, thus the game will be meaningless.
The Fever earned the sixth seed in the postseason with their victory over the Dallas Wings on Sunday. The Fever would win the tiebreaker even if the Phoenix Mercury and Indiana might still tie in the standings. The Fever formally announced on X on Monday that their official seeding has been determined.
They also disclosed the date of their first-round playoff match. The Fever posted on X that they have “locked in the No. 6 seed for the WNBA playoffs.” “On Sunday, we kick off our first round series. On Thursday, once the regular season concludes, the opponent and complete series schedule will be revealed.” Just as with the Fever, every team’s final day of the regular season falls on Thursday. The Connecticut Sun is expected to finish the season as the third seed and face the Fever in the opening round.
Since returning from the Olympic break, the Fever have been among the league’s hottest teams thanks to the play of WNBA All-Stars Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, and Aliyah Boston. During that time, they have a 9-4 record in 13 games. Forward Aliyah Boston (age 7) and guard Caitlin Clark (age 22) of the Indiana Fever celebrate.
