Jeremy Swayman and the Boston Bruins are now in a rather serious contract disagreement that might put the goalie’s time with the team in risk.
Overall, it has been stated that Swayman is aiming for upwards of $10 million each year. However, some rumors have stated that the Bruins are only willing to give him four years and $6.2 million each year. This sets the two parties far apart and the fans are fearful that a deal will never get done.
Recently, Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand came up about all of this. As he indicated, he is looking forward to seeing Swayman back on the team. He recognizes that with fans and the media, this is a big story. However, he just wants to focus on hockey and getting his goalkeeper back.
‘It’s a big topic of conversation with the fans and the media, and this is part of the business, and we all are really looking forward to when it does get done and the process is finished and he is back with the club,’ said Marchand. ‘But that’s obviously out of our hands and we don’t get involved in any of that. So it’ll be fantastic when everything gets kind of squared away.’
This issue is starting to get a touch out of hand, and Bruins supporters are anxious about what is going to happen next. They have every right to feel that way, and it will be interesting to watch if there is a resolution sometime soon. If you are a Bruins fan, all you can do is hope, pray, and wait.
