With Seth Jarvis signing a new agreement with the Carolina Hurricanes, Jeremy Swayman is still the biggest restricted free agent available. Others are Dawson Mercer in New Jersey, Lucas Raymond in Detroit, and Moritz Seider. But Swayman is the well-known figure.
As previously reported, there is hope that the Swayman and the Bruins will finalize a new agreement. Nevertheless, a new contract has not been agreed upon by the two parties.
When David Pagnotta of the Fourth Period appeared on NHL Network with Jamie Hersch, he was questioned if Boston should be in a panic over Jeremy Swayman and the Bruins. When he believes a trade for the top goalie on the Bruins may be completed was another question posed to him.

Jamie Hersch Not only have a few RFAs quit recently, but there have also been a few offer papers that have completely thrown things off. However, Jeremy Swayman is the most well-known RFA figure still active today. What’s new on Swayman’s status with the Bruins? Is there any drama at all there?
David Pagnotta: I’m not positive. That’s not how far I would go. That’s what I believe. Look, these discussions are still going on. Their head coach, Jim Montgomery, stated recently, or a few days prior, that he is optimistic they can do something and that Swayman will be there in camp. Once more, it appears that both parties are quite certain that they will arrive before camp in the next weeks. All that’s left to do is dig in and do what has to be done.
Given that he is the one based in Boston, Swayman looks to have a lot of influence. He is currently the head of Ullmark in Ottawa. I mean, it’s totally Swayman’s net. The question now is, are the figures you are looking at if you choose the eight-year extension approach identical to those obtained by Saros? Are you attempting to move in Ilya Sorokin’s direction? It sounds like the Boston Bruins and Swayman are both set on an eight-year agreement, but you go in over eight as if it really depends on what path they want to pursue here. It all depends on the kind of numbers.

Training camp, the preseason, and the start of the regular season are always the first deadlines for anything.

The issue here, in my opinion, is that Swayman reportedly requested $10 million last week, according to a report. That was not heard by me. According to what I heard, the Bruins weren’t even close to the nine and a half-point mark set by Charlie McAvoy. However, Friedman stated on NHL Network that “it’s not that far at that point in time, we’re splitting hairs.” Thus, I believe there is yet time. I continue to believe in pressure points.
