Ahead of Week 1, there are still unanswered questions at wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals. Tee Higgins’ hamstring issue had already made him doubtful to play in the season opener against the New England Patriots. On Saturday, the team stated that Ja’Marr Chase’s health will now make him questionable for the game.
In addition to Chase’s current unsettled status stemming from a contract dispute, this latest categorization adds to it. This week marks the former first-round draft pick’s return to practice after a “hold-in” in the hopes of securing a new contract.
No such contract extension has been signed as of yet, despite the fact that there seems to have been some progress recently. Thus, Chase’s prospects for Week 1 were already uncertain. His sickness only heightens the doubts about him and the Bengals receiving corps as a whole for Sunday’s game.
The Patriots vs. Bengals game is scheduled to begin on Sunday, September 8 at 1 p.m. ET.
