The starting kicker for the Los Angeles Chargers is officially set for the foreseeable future.
The team is signing kicker Cameron Dicker to a four-year agreement worth over $22 million, of which $12.5 million is guaranteed, according to ESPN source Adam Schefter.
“Dicker signed with the Eagles and then the Chargers as a kicker, and since has become one of the most accurate kickers in the NFL over his first two seasons,” Schefter recently shared on social media. Dicker was cut by the Rams during his first training camp as a punter.
To reach to this point in his life, Dicker has had to work really hard.
Nonetheless, the Texas native who was previously undrafted as a rookie is currently among the league’s top kickers.
Throughout his career, he has made 52 out of 55 field goals and has never missed an extra point.
He completed 31 of 33 field goals last season without missing any that were shorter than 50 yards.
This season, two position players will decide many games in the stacked AFC: the quarterback and the kicker.
Teams must excel in both areas in order to have a real chance of winning.
Pro Bowl quarterback Justin Herbert and center Nick Dicker are signed for the long term, so the Chargers are in capable hands going ahead.
Naturally, it will be up to Jim Harbaugh, the new head coach, to make the club successful.
The future at Kicker is no longer uncertain, even though the 2024 Chargers’ future is still unknown.
