On Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. in Las Vegas, the LSU Tigers football team will play USC football, a recently added Big Ten opponent. Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels, Brian Thomas Jr., and Malik Nabers are all in the NFL, so the Tigers will need to regroup quickly to stop a potent USC offense led by quarterback Miller Moss. Coach Kelly provided an update on the Tigers’ receiving corps situation earlier this week, mentioning the health of one of LSU football’s top receivers, Garrett Nussmeier, who is the new starting quarterback.
Associated: Todd Bowles Offers An Insightful Six-Word Analysis on the Buccaneers Jalen McMillan, a rookie Chris Hilton Jr., a wide receiver who was anticipated to start with Kyren Lacy and CJ Daniels, is doubtful for Saturday’s game, according to Kelly.
“He has a bone bruise, he is working through that process but today he’ll be listed in that category,” Kelly stated. In 11 games last season, Hilton Jr.
recorded a career-high 225 yards and two touchdowns, making two starts for Daniels and the Tigers. Redshirt freshman Kyle Parker is slated to replace Hilton Jr. if he is unable to play. As a true freshman, Parker participated in four games but failed to record a catch. In terms of receiving yards from the club from the previous season, Lacy is the top returnee. He recorded an average of almost 19 yards per reception on 30 catches for 558 yards and seven touchdowns.
