Breaking News: Boston Bruins Just Confirm Jeremy Swayman Just Turn Down New Contract Offer Due To…….

The Boston Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman is the most notable of the four restricted free agents still available this summer.

Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet revealed on his 32 Thoughts Podcast that a new contract between the Bruins and Swayman is far from finalized.

“They weren’t close, the last I heard,” Friedman remarked. “I think this negotiation has been a little difficult, but they still have time, so we’ll see how it works out.”

Friedman often cautions that a single phone call might change all of this. And it seems like that’s the current state of affairs. Financially, the two sides are very different from one another, and this may not go away as training camp approaches.

Things could, however, take a different turn. Cam Neely, the president of the Boston Bruins, called into the Rich Shertenlieb Show and expressed confidence that a deal will be reached shortly.

“A task will be completed. There’s no doubt. Not every discussion goes as smoothly as you’d like, and I know our supporters want a resolution by now,” said Cam Neely. “But I have every confidence that this will end in an agreement before too long.”

Following last summer’s pay arbitration, Swayman received a $3.475 million one-year contract. But Swayman had no intention of taking this path this season. He disliked the procedure and thought that the contract discussions were difficult the previous year.

In a recent interview with NESN during their Jimmy Fund, Jeremy Swayman was more upbeat than others regarding the completion of a deal.

“There is a great deal of assurance. I mention this because, although I’ve approached the season as usual, I’ve been working out with our guys, staff, and players at Warrior (the Bruins Practice Facility), and I’m aware that something unique is developing in our locker room this year. That excites me beyond measure, Swayman remarked.
