In preparation for their last preseason game, the Houston Texans and quarterback C.J. Stroud have engaged in joint practices with the Los Angeles Rams.

Before Saturday’s game between the Rams and the Texans, the two signal callers had a preview of each other’s abilities.

Matthew Stafford, the veteran quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams, had positive things to say about Stroud after spending the last week getting to know the second-year quarterback up close.

While speaking to the media, Stafford described Stroud’s style of play as “calm aggression.”

Stafford, a quarterback who has won a Super Bowl and has been in the game for 15 years, is experienced enough to know when he sees talent.

At quarterback, Stroud and Stafford are regarded as “gunslingers.” Stafford seems to have a personal connection to Stroud, as evidenced by his great regard for the man. Despite the fact that Stroud had a far better start to the season, Stafford obviously recognizes a portion of himself in Stroud.

Stafford’s compliments partially highlight what makes Houston Texans quarterback Bryce Young of the Carolina Panthers, outstanding C.J. Stroud. C.J. Stroud

The verbiage Stafford used to explain why Stroud’s first preseason touchdown was more amazing than the average fan might have thought is one noteworthy aspect of his praise.

The dagger idea, which is characterized by an in-breaking route from the outside receiver, was being used by the Texans. The defensive coverage was designated as “3 buzz,” meaning that the in-breaking route’s safety should be directly at its intended location.

This is done by the safety, but Stroud’s self-assurance and arm strength nevertheless enable him to get the ball through the window. The Texans are able to make a spectacular play that would not have been feasible without Stroud’s confidence and arm strength.

Stroud wrote about the philosophy underlying this kind of play in a Sports Illustrated piece.

Speaking through the Texans’ official website, Stroud remarked, “Man, Steph Curry don’t ever stop shooting.” “I’m just going to let it ride for now. Furthermore, I play with no shame. Definitely, I need to be more intelligent. I lose none of my confidence. I’m going to continue to let things go.

In the NFL, many quarterbacks are capable of accurately reading a dagger concept and finding the ideal receiver with it, but very few are able to make the read and still throw one through the window no matter what the defense is doing. The Texans managed a touchdown even though the opposing coaches called the correct play and the defenders performed their duties.
