In 2024, Derek Carr will be needed more by the New Orleans Saints. His entire offensive unit’s performance in 2023 was a rollercoaster. This season, Carr is backed by one of the finest defense veterans in New Orleans.
Trent Mathieu has faith in Saints quarterback Derek Carr.
The standout safety for the Saints talked about Carr with Jim Rome. He believes that Carr’s career in New Orleans is still in its prime.
“I think he’s a phenomenal quarterback, man, like, it’s tough to replace a legend (Drew Brees), you know, and I can’t, I can’t really, I don’t want to know what that feels like, you know what I mean, because I’m pretty sure it’s some high expectations…”
“a fantastic leader—one of the first people into and the last person out of the place, that kind of man. Additionally, as a fellow team leader, I can see that he wants it. I mean, I can see him getting ready and working.”
“Because I believe that this year will see Derek put his best self on show for everyone to see, and I don’t think we’ve seen that side of him yet, right? Since he’s one of those kind guys who deserves it, if you get what I mean.” Derek Carr: Tyrann Mathieu’s analysis
It’s obvious that Mathieu wants Carr to succeed.
He knows that his accomplishments will inevitably lead to victories for New Orleans. The defense has more than enough skill to compete in the NFC. All they need is greater output from their offensive players.
The acquisition of Klint Kubiak as the play-caller for the offense has persuaded Mathieu and many other people that this is happening. In 2024, we’ll see if Carr can continue to support the star safety theory.
