Many of the Green Bay Packers’ 2023 NFL season players signed for new teams for the 2024 season. Running back Aaron Jones, who signed with the Minnesota Vikings after being released by the Packers earlier this offseason, is arguably the most notable of these. De’Vondre Campbell, a former All-Pro linebacker who was also cut, inked a contract with the San Francisco 49ers.
Aside from Rudy Ford (Jaguars), Jon Runyan Jr. (New York Giants), Yosh Nijman (Carolina Panthers), Darnell Savage (Jacksonville Jaguars), and Jonathan Owens (Chicago Bears), other prominent former Packers players from the 2023 season have found new teams for 2024.
Another former defensive player for Green Bay inked a new contract with a new team on Monday night.
Justin Hollins, a former linebacker for the Green Bay Packers joined the Washington Commanders as a signatory
On their website, the Washington Commanders state that have reached a deal with unrestricted free agency linebacker Justin Hollins. The contract’s specifics are currently confidential.
After being released by the Los Angeles Rams in the middle of the season, when he won the Super Bowl, Hollins was initially signed by the Packers in 2022. Hollins was reinstated by Green Bay for the 2023 campaign, but he was cut after just four games.
After being dismissed by the Packers, Hollins appeared in one game for the New York Giants before being cut again. The Los Angeles Chargers signed him after that, and he participated in seven games in 2023 with them.
In total, Hollins had 10 appearances for the Packers and recorded 18 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
Justin Hollins, a former linebacker for the Green Bay Packers, is currently playing for his sixth team in six years.
As previously stated, Hollins was a member of the Packers, Giants, and Chargers in 2023. It’s possible that his time with the Rams, when they won the Super Bowl, is what made him most famous.
However, Los Angeles was not his first team. In the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos selected Hollins in the first round of the draft. He made one sack and twenty-one tackles in his one season with the Broncos.
The Broncos waived Hollins just prior to the 2020 NFL season commencing. Shortly after, though, he signed a contract with the Rams, and he participated in all 16 games the following year, recording 28 tackles and 3.0 sacks.
Despite playing in just eight games in 2021 due to injury, Hollins recorded 21 tackles and 2.0 sacks.
After ten games, the Rams released the Oregon product in 2022. He had 26 tackles and 0 sacks when he was cut loose. He has nine tackles and 2.5 sacks in six games following his Packers signing.
Hollins participated in 12 games for three clubs last season. As he moved from squad to team, he recorded one sack and seventeen tackles.
With Washington, perhaps, he can find a more prominent role and more reliable play.
