Erik Spoelstra, the coach of the Miami Heat, must make the difficult choice of concentrating his offensive efforts on All-Star Bam Adebayo or seasoned player Jimmy Butler.
Adebayo is the more secure choice due to his long-term stability, as Butler is about to approach the last year of his deal. The problem is that with Butler in charge of the offense, the Heat have already made several trips to the NBA Finals.
Adebayo might not even want to take on the job, according to an NBA scout who talked with Anthony Pasciolla of Miami Heat On SI.
“Bam would probably prefer to be a Swiss Army knife. Under anonymity, one NBA scout stated, “I’m not sure if Bam wants to do that [be the No. 1 option].” “I believe that he would be content with numbers like 18, 12, and 6. It’s not that he can’t be the man; rather, it’s that I don’t have to be the guy, as you may occasionally observe.
The scout also concurred with a statistical comparison to Alperen Sengun of the Houston Rockets. The Rockets center is productive in every offensive area, but he is not as strong defensively as Adebayo. The scout added that the three-time All-Star would perfectly embody the character of the Swiss Army knife if he can enhance his playmaking and outside shooting.
Jimmy might do it because he is about to enter his contract year. However, Tyler will get his shot, and you have another year with Jaime. If I were him, I would wait and see if I needed to put additional pressure on myself,” the scout said.
