Not even Eddie Rosario can argue with Brian Snitker, who has been in the game long enough, why a player isn’t productive enough to be on the major league team. Braves fans will always be grateful to Rosario for the memories, but so far, this 2021 reunion in Atlanta hasn’t gone according to plan. The team is struggling and wants to stay in the playoff chase.
The Braves led the New York Mets by a half-game going into Sunday’s schedule, but Atlanta has fluctuated in their relationship with their NL East opponents all week. The Braves outfield and rotation have finally been affected by the injuries to Ronald Acuña Jr. and Spencer Strider. This is where Rosario enters the picture, as he was recently claimed a few weeks ago from the Washington Nationals. He is 32 years old.
Even though he showed some promise in his first few games back in the ATL, his stint there did not go as planned. Rosario had a.463 OPS while slashing just.154/.181/.282. Snitker was forthright when questioned about why the team assigned Rosario to the task.
It was mostly a left-right issue. As soon as Michael returns, we’re going to add another left-handed hitter,” Snitker stated.

Naturally, Brian Snitker was talking to Michael Harris II when he said that Eddie Rosario had a valid justification for being sent to Gwinnett. Compared to righties, Rosario’s splits with lefties aren’t all that bad. He’s hitting below the Mendoza line against both, which is the issue.
It’s not known if Rosario agreed to work for Gwinnett. If not, he might be released completely; although, based on what he’s said about his time in Atlanta and Washington this season, maybe he could use a little time in Triple-A to hone his swing. Rosario can decline that assignment because he has a ton of MLB service time under his belt.
Eli White took Rosario’s spot on the active roster. However, Ramon Laureano left a game early due to heel problems over the weekend, adding to Atlanta’s woes in the outfield. He might not need to spend time on the injured list, which could lead to the arrival of…Rosario!
All of this serves as more proof of the Braves’ outfield deficiencies. Although they acquired Jorge Soler after the trade deadline, it might be argued that Alex Anthopoulos ought to have taken more action to cover for the injuries sustained by Harris II and Acuña Jr.
