The Walter Camp Football Foundation presents the Walter Camp Player of the Year Watch List every year, and quarterback DJ Uiagalelei was added to it on Monday. Prior to this, Uiagalelei was named to the Watch List for the Maxwell Award, which is given to the best player in the country.

Over his career, Uiagalelei has started 40 games, had a 30-10 record, and accounted for 9,451 yards of total offense, including 1,132 yards and 21 touchdowns on the ground and 8,319 yards and 57 touchdowns passing. The 2023 Davey O’Brien Award semifinalist from Oregon State, where he threw for 2,638 yards and 21 touchdowns with 219 running yards and six additional touchdowns on the ground, was followed by the native of Inland Empire, California, who transferred to FSU. His 21 passing touchdowns were sixth for the Beavers this season; he had five career touchdowns in Oregon State’s win over Cal.
During his first three seasons, Uiagalelei played quarterback at Clemson University, where he holds the top-10 position in program history for completions, throwing touchdowns, quarterback running touchdowns, passing yards, and victories while starting. In total, he scored 51 touchdowns during his time with the Tigers. He was 22-6 while starting quarterback for Clemson.

Quarterback Jameis Winston of Florida State in 2013 and quarterback Charlie Ward of Florida State in 1993 are the two former winners of the Walter Camp Player of the Year award.

Early in November, the Walter Camp Player of the Year will reduce to ten semifinalists, with the announcement of the three winners on November 26. On December 12, at the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show, the winner will be revealed.

In the Aer Lingus College Football Classic against Georgia Tech on ESPN, August 24 at 12:00 p.m. ET in Dublin, Ireland, will see Florida State, the reigning ACC Champions, kick off the season.
