For the 2024 campaign, a well-known wide receiver is returning to the New Orleans Saints. They made the trade in order to free up an ailing tight end.
During training camp, the Saints have received their fair share of alarming injury reports. This summer, their quarterback is also fighting cancer.
A well-known WR was signed by the New Orleans Saints.
The Saints announced on Thursday that they will be adding Marquez Callaway to their roster.
Callaway, 6-2, 204, was originally signed by the Saints in 2020 as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee. During his time with New Orleans, he started 17 games during the regular season (2020–23) and finished with 83 receptions for 1,069 yards and seven touchdowns in his career. He also returned 14 punts for 149 yards (10.6 average) and four kickoffs for 94 yards (23.5 average).
In 2020, Callaway won a spot on the roster as a rookie. In 11 games with three starts, he caught 21 catches for 213 yards, returned 11 punts for 122 yards (11.1 average), and returned four kickoffs for 94 yards.
With 46 receptions for 698 yards (15.2 average.) and six touchdowns in 2021, he led New Orleans in receiving yards and touchdown grabs. The Warner Robins, Georgia native spent the offseason with the Pittsburgh Steelers after spending four seasons with New Orleans, and he later rejoined the team.
Tommy Hudson, the tight end, was released by the team in tandem.
This week, Marquez Callaway was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In July, Callaway failed to make an impression at training camp with the Steelers. Despite having one of the poorest receiver corps on the squad, the Steelers cut Callaway this week. Many Steelers supporters were disappointed to hear that Callaway was released and had hoped the team would keep him.
