Stephen Curry, the basketball legend, has always been regarded as a Warriors lifer. However, in response to the question of whether he was fully committed to the team, the two-time MVP acknowledged that it would be difficult to carry on if the Warriors remained unbeatable.
“I’ve always declared that my goal in life is to be a warrior. At this point in my profession, I think it’s feasible. Additionally, just because you are competitive doesn’t imply you will win the title. Although you’re clearly practical, winning is always the top priority, Curry stated via Andscape. “If you stick with it, it doesn’t guarantee that it will happen. In order to adapt to the current state of the league and the positions of some of these excellent clubs, you must shake things up and continuously rethink what it looks like.”
“I’m taking it one step at a time to be honest,” Curry stated. That seems to be the only thing that can keep my happiness safe. It also lets me appreciate being who I am when I’m playing outside. And when it comes to simply using my imagination, I’ll keep making the choices that are ultimately best for me and my career. My goal is to triumph. To put it another way, let me simply say that I would find it difficult to put up with someone who is a bottom feeder only because they want to continue in that scenario. However, I don’t believe that will actually happen.”
Ten-time All-Star Curry has had an incredible career with the Warriors. Curry has been a legend in the game after being selected seventh overall in 2009 due to his extraordinary three-point shooting, which drastically altered the NBA.
Curry is still among the best players in the league today, fifteen years after the game’s inception, and he fully expects to contend for titles. He kept the Warriors alive in the 2023–24 campaign, averaging 26.4 points, 5.1 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game on 45.0% shooting.
Even with Steph playing at his peak, though, the Warriors were unable to survive the playoffs and lost to the Kings in the Western play-in round. Curry has further cause for anxiety about the team’s performance heading into this season because he will not be playing with his longtime backcourt partner Klay Thompson.
Although the Warriors made several trades this summer to acquire Kyle Anderson and Buddy Hield, they are essentially repurchasing the club that placed tenth the previous year. That might not even be sufficient to level the playing field against Western elites like the Thunder, Nuggets, Mavericks, and Timberwolves.
Nevertheless, after winning four titles with the Warriors, Curry has developed a strong bond with the team, which makes sense. It would take a lot for Curry to sever their current bond given the history and achievements he’s had with the team.
It is unclear how the Warriors will respond to growing doubts about their potential to win another championship, but they should be committed to creating the finest team around their greatest franchise star as long as they are in good health.
That’s more than most teams have going for them right now, and they can count on Curry to at least give them a fighting chance.
