When the best players are competing, sports are enhanced. This isn’t a bold claim, yet one of baseball’s rising stars isn’t playing right now. Ronald Acuna Jr., the Braves’ all-star outfielder and current MVP, tore his ACL earlier in the season, and Bryce Harper has been vocal about his desire for him to return.
Philadelphia and Atlanta have a unique rivalry. The two ball clubs are among the greatest in Major League Baseball, and there is genuine animosity amongst the fan bases as well.
The athletes have the highest regard for one another, notwithstanding the hostility between Braves and Phillies supporters. Both Ronald Acuna Jr. and Bryce Harper, who has missed part of the previous two seasons due to an elbow ailment, are better for baseball.
There should be no debate regarding this. Fans of the Braves should be as passionate about the team as those of its opponents, and they should want to watch Bryce Harper and all of their players play. It’s preferable to defeat your most vile opponents with all of your might rather than just playing the game to the maximum enjoyment.
Similar to Acuna, one of the league’s finest pitchers, Spencer Strider, is gone from the game after suffering a season-ending injury early in the campaign.
At the All-Star break, the Braves trail the division-leading Phillies by 8.5 games. Although it will be difficult to catch up to them without Ronald Acuna and Spencer Strider, stranger things have happened.
