Payton Thorne, the starting quarterback again, is pleased with the updated offensive strategy and wide receiver room.
The Auburn football offense’s severe struggles in 2023 were partly caused by their inability to succeed in the passing game. Even though Payton Thorne, the quarterback, shared some of the guilt, not many receivers were able to turn games around and produce plays.
According to the returning QB1, things are already looking different this year. Naturally, with the addition of veterans like transfer KeAndre Lambert-Smith and new freshmen Cam Coleman and Perry Thompson, the caliber of quality has increased. The Tigers are in a strong position going into the fall because to their enhanced skill, Derrick Nix’s coaching, and the new offensive plan.
According to Thorne, the receivers are encouraging their quarterback with big plays during practice.
It all boils down to really putting it into practice. Before you can gain confidence in the game, you have to do it in practice, Thorne stated, according to Saturday Down South. Currently, we have players who are practicing and going into plays. You think, “Wow, that was a huge play there.” or “You caught that ball, hey?” Although it was at your knees, it wasn’t a very excellent throw, yet you managed to catch it. Right now, I’m much more confident in our men and our work, and part of it is due to the coaching as well.
Thorne continued, stating that he is particularly impressed with the receivers’ awareness and attention to detail, particularly when third-down situations are at stake.
“Achieve, say, twelve yards. It is not nine o’clock. It is twelve o’clock. Reach 12 yards, said Thorne. “Right now, there’s a lot more confidence. I have faith in the men we have on the field, and they are making plays with the ball.
