Exum played in all 82 games during his impressive rookie campaign with the Jazz in 2014–15, showcasing his ability to create plays. However, he missed the entire 2015–16 season due to an ACL tear in 2015. Throughout his career, he has struggled with a number of injuries that have hindered his growth and playing time.

Despite these difficulties, Exum has achieved success in a number of leagues. In 2022, he won the Spanish Cup with FC Barcelona, and in 2023, he and Partizan Belgrade won the ABA League championship. Exum won a bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and has been a vital member of the Australian national squad.
Exum, who is 29 years old, joins the Mavericks in 2023 with the intention of leaving a lasting impression on the NBA. He is a fascinating addition to the Luka Doncic-led team because of his stature, athleticism, and ability to create opportunities for plays.
