Boston signed defensemen Michael Callahan and Alec Regula to one-year, two-way contracts with an NHL salary cost of $775,000. General manager Don Sweeney made the announcement in a press release.
Throughout the course of 70 games with Providence last season, Callahan totaled 17 points with four goals and 13 assists. The 24-year-old skated in 140 AHL games in his career, all with Providence, and finished with 27 points (6 goals, 21 assists). The Arizona Coyotes first picked the former captain of Providence College in the fifth round of the 2018 NHL Draft.
Regula played in 55 games with the P-Bruins past season, tallying 22 assists and four goals. In 163 career AHL games, the 23-year-old scored 16 goals and 61 assists for 77 points while maintaining a plus-42 rating. Last season, Ian Mitchell and Taylor Hall were acquired by the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Regula. Nick Foligno was also given to the team.

Callahan and Regula will probably play for Boston during the preseason, which gets underway at TD Garden on September 22 when the Bruins take on the New York Rangers.
