This season, the Atlanta Braves are unable to shake their injury woes. The team had already witnessed the injury of top player Ronald Acuna to his knee, and now it was watching second baseman Ozzie Albies leave a game early due to a wrist injury sustained in a loss to the Cardinals.
The Braves signed utilityman Whit Merrifield on Monday as a reaction to that setback. A few hours later, he also sustained injuries!
Over the weekend, Albies hurt himself trying to tag a St. Louis baserunner. The runner attempted to make the tag on the play, but he collided with his glove hand.
The outcome was a broken wrist, which should sideline the infield player for two months.
After the game, Brian Snitker expressed his frustration, stating he wasn’t sure how many injuries his club could overcome in an attempt to go to the postseason.
After watching Albies lose, he remarked, “It gets to a point where it’s kind of over the top a little bit, and you can’t cover it.” “Depth will cover it, but it gets difficult after a while.”
Regretfully, things may have grown worse!
Whit Merrifield, a productive utility player for the Braves who replaced Ozzie Albies, had to get checked out right away due to an injury of his own.
