Don Mattingly becomes the first player in the American League to smash a home run in seven straight games in 1987.

1990: After diving to try to catch a line drive off the bat of Deion Sanders, Bo Jackson breaks out for three home runs, including his 100th of the season. The Royals prevail 10–7 despite Sanders’s dash around the bases for an inside-the-park home run. Due to the injury, Jackson will be out for the next six weeks.

2001: Ozzie Guillen, the coach of the Expos, is ejected before the first pitch is delivered after pursuing a dispute with umpire Greg Gibson from the previous evening.
