With the Dallas Mavericks, Klay Thompson is embarking on a new chapter in his NBA career. Though his departure from the Golden State Warriors was upsetting, it wasn’t totally unexpected for one of the greatest shooters in league history to land in such a surprising place.
After failing to reach an agreement with Golden State, Thompson left the team and signed with the Mavericks. Thompson had high expectations from the Warriors.

“Change can sometimes inspire brilliance. I believed that letting go would allow me to refocus and do something exceptional for the remainder of my career.
Whatever the case, Thompson leaves a rock-solid legacy with the Warriors. Having won four NBA titles with the Dubs and establishing what is perhaps the greatest backcourt tandem in league history, he will always be seen as one of the greatest players to wear Golden State colors.
Thompson has a lifetime 3-point percentage of 41.3 percent, so he’ll try to assist Dallas there after the Mavs only managed 31.6 percent against the Boston Celtics in the 2024 NBA Finals.
