ANOTHER SAD NEWS: Just In Toronto Maple Leafs Just Confirm The Departure OF Another Three Top Experienced Star Players Due TO…..

According to NHL rumors, Toronto’s UFA pair, Tyler Bertuzzi and Max Domi, may test the free agency waters on July 1. There have also been talks about a redesign of the back end. As the draft approaches, there are a lot of topics that will come up for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

On Monday, Tyler Bertuzzi and Max Domi are probably going to test free agency.

The Leafs seem to like forwards Perron, Joshua, and Jake DeBrusk, but their first pick on defense looks to be Chris Tanev.

NHL Rumors: James Mirtle and Jonas Siegel of The Athletic have heard rumors that forwards Domi and Bertuzzi are considering free agency.

Together, the Toronto pair had an incredible season the previous year, especially in the second half. They both played on the same first line with Mitch Marner toward the end of the playoffs’ first round matchup with the Boston Bruins. William Nylander and Auston Matthews’ ailments and injuries were issues the Leafs had to cope with.

The rumor that general manager Brad Treliving was speaking with both Domi and Bertuzzi gained some traction a few weeks ago. The Maple Leafs will need to fill some holes this off-season, according to Mirtle and Siegel, who disagree. The Leafs may be in on a few winger replacements, according to comments made on the podcast The Leaf Report, which is hosted by Mirtle and Siegel. There were names brought up, including Dakota Joshua, Jake DeBrusk, and David Perron. DeBrusk and Joshua have allegedly expressed interest in joining Toronto, according to numerous rumors that have surfaced recently.

Defense Needs Care During the Off-Season
Treliving’s hands will be full not only with finding right-handed defensemen but also with the need to cover gaps up front. Regarding potential blueliners to join the Leafs, a number of names were floated on the podcast. Chris Tanev, who was born in Ontario, was reportedly considered by the Maple Leafs. This defenseman has been linked to Toronto for some time. Siegel and Mirtle, however, claimed that Treliving is connected to a number of well-known defensemen. Tanev, Nikita Zadorov, Brandon Montour, and others are among them.

There is only Timothy Liljegren (and Connor Timmins and Max Lajoie if you want to include them) on Toronto’s NHL roster at the moment. Liljegren, though, is an unrestricted free agent, so Toronto must choose whether to trade or re-sign him. Siegel and Mirtle also mentioned the possibility of arbitration for the Swede. Consequently, there have been rumors of several defencemen who played for Toronto in the previous season testing free agency. Joel Edmundson, T. J. Brodie, and Ilya Lyubushkin are a few of these names. They were all part of the Buds’ postseason team. In any case, Toronto still needs to fill the gaps with a few right-handed d-men that they can sign in free agency.

Compensation Cap Innovation
Treliving has one of the hardest jobs as a general manager this off-season, so he has his work cut out for him. In addition to finishing his roster for the upcoming campaign, he also needs to handle the Marner predicament.

“We have a lot of work to do this summer,”

There isn’t much financial flexibility for the Leafs, regardless of whether they choose to trade or re-sign the 27-year-old. It’s obvious that they will need to sign multiple players this summer, so they will need to hunt for inexpensive alternatives. They need to fill eight important roster spots with their little over $19 million in cap space. Treliving and company will make some significant moves.
