After almost ten years, the Los Angeles Rams broke their trade habit.
The Rams made their first-round selection since 2016, when they chose Jared Goff with the first overall pick, by selecting Jared Verse with the 19th overall pick in the 2024 draft.
Whether or not the pick pays off is still to be seen. But returning to their previous practices of making trades and giving up draft capital might enable the Rams to make the most of their 36-year-old quarterback Mattew Stafford’s championship window.
As two of the best 1-2 punches in the league in Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, their wide receiver room is already loaded. But it appears they could use reinforcements based on Kupp’s injury history.
Raiders of Las Vegas wideout That and more could be provided by Davante Adams.
Admittedly, the Rams don’t really need Adams, as Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report stated on June 14. Matthew Stafford would have the most potent trio of wide receivers in the league if Adams were added to the mix.
“It wouldn’t be cheap, but Les Snead is the NFL’s most willing general manager to deal first-round picks.”

2025: First-round selection
Adams joined the Raiders in 2022 and went on to win three All-Pro selections and six Pro Bowls. Adams’ output did, however, decline after the Raiders traded Derek Carr for Jimmy Garappolo and then rookie Aidan O’Connell.
Last season, Adams, a former member of the Green Bay Packer, was occasionally clearly frustrated.

Adams has denied rumors of a trade, claiming that if he had desired one, he would have been dealt.
According to Tashan Reed of the Athletic in April, Adams stated, “If I wanted to be gone, I’d be gone by now.” “This is my desired location.”
Insider Predicts Raiders Will Be Sellers by the Trade Deadline in 2024

The Raiders may be looking to cut some of their more expensive contracts, and the 31-year-old Adams may be a candidate, despite his wishes.
Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer wrote on June 13 that “I… believe that the roster is a ways off, and the long-term quarterback for Pierce and first-year GM Tom Telesco isn’t on the roster, so there’s a pretty logical scenario out there where they become sellers at the deadline.”
That might set up the Raiders and Rams for a trade alignment.
“Want to put a formidable San Francisco 49ers team in the NFC West in 2024 under real threat?” Davenport composed. “It will require the kind of move that this is.”
Rams Are Able to Clear Cap Space in Order to Accept a Trade

Adams’s 2023 receiving yards total was 372 fewer than his 2022 total, and his 67.3 yards per game were the lowest since the 2017 campaign. He has a $25.3 million cap hit in 2024 and is in the third year of a $140 million contract that runs five years.
According to Over The Cap, the Rams have $8.6 million in cap space.
Acquiring the necessary space and the remaining $17.5 million owed to Adams may present challenges. Nonetheless, the Rams have a few good options for achieving that.
Demarcus Robinson and Joseph Noteboom, the Rams’ backup offensive lineman, would add $9 million to the team’s salary. That makes enough space for Adams to enter. Then, they could modify his contract in a way that is akin to what the Houston Texans did with Stefon Diggs.
