DONE DEAL: Just In LSU Tigers Just Confirm The Signing OF Fans Favorite Top Experienced Star Player From……

LSU running back Former five-star prospect John Emery Jr. is anticipated to rejoin the Tigers following his transfer portal entry.

John Emery Jr., a running back for LSU who registered on the NCAA transfer portal during the spring window in April, is anticipated to withdraw and rejoin the Tigers, according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports. Emery, a former five-star and top-15 prospect nationally, is a huge asset to LSU’s shallow running back corp.

Only four scholarship running backs would have been available for LSU to start the 2024 season if Emery had not been hired. One of those running backs, redshirt freshman Trey Holly, is currently dealing with legal issues that could prevent him from playing all season. This came after Logan Diggs, a versatile threat and the team’s leading running back, was lost to the transfer portal.

Josh Williams and Kaleb Jackson were the only remaining returning backs for the Tigers. In 2023, those two carried the ball 86 times for 449 yards and nine touchdowns. Caden Durham, a highly regarded freshman and 247Sports’ No. 6 running back in the class of 2024, was expected to play a significant role in LSU’s plans out of the backfield and probably still does.

Despite being the top running back in the 2019 class, Emery hasn’t yet lived up to the high expectations placed on him. Nevertheless, the Tigers will gain from his SEC experience, and it will give the staff an additional option in the rotation. Before suffering an ACL tear against Florida that ended his season, Emery ran 23 times for 121 yards and a touchdown in seven games during the previous campaign.
