EAGAN, Minnesota – The Vikings are bolstering their receiving and defensive line units.

The team announced on Thursday that defensive lineman Jerry Tillery, a free agent, and receiver Trent Sherfield Sr. have reached an agreement.

Last season, Tillery was a member of the Raiders, starting six games and playing in all 17. 31 tackles, 2.0 sacks, two tackles for loss, and a fumble recovery were all part of his total.

Tillery, who was selected by the Chargers with the 28th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, played his first three plus seasons in Los Angeles, starting 29 of 54 games. Midway through the 2022 season, the Chargers decided to waive Tillery, and the Raiders claimed him off waivers before Week 11.

Tillery, who was raised in Shreveport, Louisiana, went to Evangel Christian Academy. He recorded 93 tackles and 7.0 sacks as a senior, and he was selected to participate in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio.

Tillery committed to play football at Notre Dame. As a freshman, he was originally scheduled to play offensive tackle but was later switched to defensive tackle. After starting all but one of the Irish’s games as a sophomore and totaling 37 tackles, he started three of the team’s twelve games that season. During his final two seasons at Notre Dame, Tillery was a full-time starter and finished with 84 tackles, 11.5 sacks, and 17.5 tackles for loss in 25 games.

Tillery received a degree in economics from the University of Notre Dame’s College of Arts and Letters.
