OFFICIAL Saints News Just In New Orleans Saints Confirm The Signing Of Another Top Highly Rated Talented Star

The Saints made an attempt to sign Andrus Peat again, but in the end, Peat decided to start over in Las Vegas.

On Monday morning, Mickey Loomis, the general manager of the New Orleans Saints, gave the media some intriguing updates regarding former Saints guard Andrus Peat and standout cornerback Marshon Lattimore.

On May 13, it was revealed that Peat, a free agent, would be joining the Raiders in Las Vegas. At first, it was thought the Saints decided against signing the former first-round pick to a new deal.

No, Loomis said, that was not the case.

“We tried to get (Peat) to step down, but he decided to go somewhere else, which is the essence of free agency. Andrus was a wise choice and a long-time member of our team. I’m happy for him since I know he’s embarking on a new journey. I wish him nothing but the best of luck and know that he’s probably excited about joining a new team. GM of the Saints Mickey Loomis
Despite Peat’s ups and downs in New Orleans, it made sense to try to re-sign the veteran. Particularly at left guard, the Saints lack a clear choice at multiple offensive line positions.

The reason behind Peat’s decision to leave New Orleans is unknown. Maybe it was just financial, or maybe Peat didn’t like how unstable the offensive line was all around. Either way, Peat was obviously in need of a change of scenery.

Among the other OL positions in training camp, it will be interesting to see which lineman, whether returning or new, can best argue for the starting left guard position.
