Dennis Allen, the head coach of the New Orleans Saints, provided an update on defensive end Chase Young’s injury. Allen says that although Young’s health is improving, he won’t be returning to the practice field very soon. The team anticipates that Young will remain in that status through his participation in walk-throughs during OTAs, unless they reevaluate him prior to training camp.

Young’s health was known to New Orleans when he signed, and they anticipated that he would miss most of the off-season.

The Saints made a major off-season acquisition in Chase Young, a fifth-year defensive end on a one-year prove-it deal, and they are banking on his potential. Expect Young to be available and a significant addition to New Orleans’ pass rush despite his current injury. Over the past two seasons, the team has lacked a reliable pass rush.
